Our trip to the Historical Centre

In October we went to the Historical Centre to look at the exhibits from Roman Times. We were able to experience how the Romans sent messages to each other, how they could get water from the ground by using the Archimedes Screw, creating mosaics and using stretchers amongst other things. We had a fantastic afternoon and learnt a lot of things. We found that sending messages was a very long task to complete and we are thankful for our phones and computers! Take a look at our photos and see how much fun we had!

Our Lifeboat Station Trip

As part of our topic on Superheroes we all went on a visit to Barry Lifeboat Station. We heard about the history of the RNLI. We were able to look at the clothing the lifeboat men wear and both staff and pupils were given the opportunity to dress up in the clothing.  We also learned about keeping safe on the beach and in the sea. As it was a dry day we went to Barry Island to eat our lunch and play on the beach. Thank you to all the parents for their donation included in the cost of the trip and Barry lifeboat station received a cheque for £80. We have received a letter from them thanking us very much for our generosity.

Bristol Aquarium

Yesterday we went on a trip to Bristol Aquarium as part of our topic 'Under the Sea'. We had a wonderful time looking at all the different types of fish there are. We found out lots of information and were surprised at how big and small some fish are. Take a look at our photos (click on the link) and the information we found out about them below.

Knex Workshop

Last week we went to a science workshop in the Historical Centre to build bridges with Knex. We had an amazing time trying to build strong structures that could hold tins and packets of food. As you can see from our photos we built some amazing bridges, some large and some rather small.

Italy

As part of our termly topic we have been looking at Italy. We found out many facts about the country and discovered that pizza wasn't a British food! We decided to make our own and it was delicious.
We all took turns in creating them, the passata went on first followed by a sprinkling of mixed herbs, a generous helping of ham and then topped off with cheese. Have a look at our photos below.
