Life size dinosaur!

We have been looking at dinosaurs for our fortnightly topic.  The children have found out many interesting facts and have brought in fantastic books to look at. We have compared different dinosaurs and created our own.  We measured out a T-Rex in our hall using metre sticks and rulers.  We were shocked at how big he was.  We went into the yard to measure out and draw the T-Rex with chalk.  We used metre sticks to measure his body and used coloured spots to mark them.  We used rulers to measure out his teeth.  The T-Rex is 12metres long from the head to tail, his head is 1 1/2 metres long, he is 6 metres tall with 23cm teeth.
We stood inside T-Rex's tummy to see how many children he could eat, there was plenty of room so we asked the children in Year 1 to come in and there was still room, T-Rex ate 56 of us! We lay down inside his tummy and he was too full so some of the children had to lie down by his mouth ready for his next meal.
Mrs Jarrold said he could be painted in gloss paint so we could play on him for a little longer because the rain would wash the chalk away so Mrs Davies, Mrs Dyas and Mrs Carroll painted him after we went home.

Bristol Zoo

We had a fantastic day out at Bristol Zoo!  We saw lots of dinosaurs there too!  We saw the Gorillas having a snooze, the Lion cubs having a play and the Meercats were digging away.  The Penguins were grooming themselves and the Seals were swimming around. We took lots of photos for you to see including being eaten by a set of Shark's teeth! We became half Gorilla and took a ride in a Kangaroos pouch!

Our Assistant Photographer on the day was Tomi Frankland who took some amazing photos as you can see here.
